Abstract German (version: 25/06/2002 - 07:47, size: 0) English: Based on the observation that no test of general business administration knowledge in German language exists we decided to start developing such an instrument. Possible uses of the test are personnel selection and evaluation studies of training measures. After identifying and structuring relevant knowledge domains a first pre-test round was conducted using paper and pencil. Since December 2000, however, further pre-testing has been done online. In order to allow individually adjusted feedback, a new generator for online testing was developed. With the help of the program it is possible to send the results of each testing to the subject automatically right after he or she has submitted the answers. The subjects who have undertaken the test so far are all volunteers that came to know about the test by links on a few other web sites. Besides answering the test items, subjects have to give biographical data for reasons of validation. In past projects we have demonstrated that validity and reliability of data is not severely injured (compared to a paper and pencil version) by not having the means to control the subjects in an Internet testing. Data from this online pre-test is used to determine validity and reliability of the test. Furthermore, items can be investigated regarding difficulty, homogenity, dimensionality, and ability to be an estimate of overall test result. With the help of these measures we like to clarify possible usages of the test, for instance as a screening instrument in personnel selection. The easy access to a big number of subjects, automated individual responses for them, and the real time availability of total test results make online testing of business administration knowledge a favourable endeavour.
